Bogeygrl, I liked your comments about talking about debt before you get married, and that not all lawyers are rich. It's the second point that I wanted to comment on though.

As the article you cited states, people are starting to realize that higher degrees are less valuable than they used to be, thanks to the exponentially increasing cost of education and stagnating salaries. I think people will start to find alternative ways to educate themselves which cost less money, and employers will have no choice but to hire the best and the brightest, no matter the "pedigree" of their diploma.

Love this post! I think PF attitudes are affected a lot by the company you keep - probably G & A (and J!) wouldn't feel as comfortable about their approach to loans if they didn't reinforce each other's decisions. ~ LW

I LOVE EXCEL!! thank's for commenting on my blog btw... just getting around to catching up on all these new (to me) blogs. i'll send you the email about the bars shortly... anyway, i can get slightly ocd about somethings so excel helps me indulge that. I track EVERYTHING on my spreadsheet... i ALSO have a legal pad i used to track current balances of my debt. the excel is like a cash flow thing and i can use it to analyze trends. Post you budget, it'd be an interesting read.

This is due to joint income being much higher. tax rates for $55K per year aren't that bad (25% maybe?) but for $110K per year we are looking at 35%. I will keep this in mind for a future post.

Are you drinking lots of water and taking vitamins? It has helped me a whole lot. I get the 30-day multi-pack from Trader Joes. It has about 6-7 pills in individual wrappers. I find it helps with energy a lot!
